AWARDS AND HONORS

The peers of Champ Sellers, Kline Ozborne and Meadow Perry have recognized and voted these three gentlemen into the Mississippi Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame at the annual meeting on January 19th, 2008. A presentation took place at the Fall Cookout on Sunday, September the 14th. The association was proud to honor their many years of dedication with a ceremony and plaque recognizing their professionalism, enthusiasm and devotion to the profession.

The Mississippi Auctioneer’s Association (MAA) is an organization of professional auctioneers that promote through its membership the auction method of marketing in the State of Mississippi. Without their past support and pride in our organization, it would not be the success it is today. We want this to be their special day as we thank you for your efforts and loyalty. Please make plans to attend the crawfish boil in June and help us celebrate and install our newest members of The Mississippi Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.


MAA Rookie Auctioneer of the Year

The Mississippi Auctioneer’s Association congratulates Zach Head, of Clinton, Mississippi, for winning the Rookie Bid-Calling contest held at the MAA annual meeting on January, 24, 2009.

Mr. Head was selected the winner based on the following criteria: Introduction, ability to engaged the audience, use of hand gestures and body language, speed and rhythm of chant, use of eye contact, knowledge of the items to be auctioned and whether or not the judges would hire them and overall presentation. Zach Head takes the place of the 2008 Rookie Winner, Justin Edens. The Mississippi Auctioneers Association had a successful annual meeting in January and looks forward to the upcoming Sizzling Summer Cookout. Further details on the summer meeting to be posted soon.

MAA State Champion Auctioneer

The Mississippi Auctioneer’s Association congratulates Kevin Glidewell, of 5 Star Auctions, for winning the 2009 State Champion Bid-Calling contest held at the Mississippi Auctioneer Association’s annual meeting on January, 24, 2009.

Among several competitors, Mr. Glidewell was selected the winner based on the following criteria:, Ability to engaged the audience, use of hand gestures and body language, knowledge of the items to be auctioned, whether or not the judges would hire them and overall presentation. Mr. Glidewell takes the place of former 2008 State Champion, Larry Sims. The Mississippi Auctioneers Association had a successful annual meeting in January and looks forward to the upcoming Summer meeting for further networking opportunities.

MAA Hall of Fame Award

The Mississippi Auctioneers Association established the Larry A. McCool Hall of Fame in honor of one of its past presidents. The MAA Hall of Fame Award honors members who have given many years of dedicated service to the profession and this association.

MAA Special Honor

The Mississippi Auctioneers Association presented a special appreciation gavel to Benny Taylor of Taylor Auction & Realty, Inc., for his years of unselfish dedicated services to the Mississippi Auctioneers Association as President.
